Edward Holland (Halland), Mayor 1747-1756: Holland (c.1702 – 1756) was an investor in the slave trade, an enslaver, a merchant, and served as mayor of Albany. He invested in the Thomas, which arrived in New York from Barbados in 1732 with three enslaved persons and cargo of rum and sugar.
His will directed that his “plate furniture and servants be equally divided by my Executors among my children and said wife Frances share and share alike…”[1]
